Baja California, Magdalena Bay whale expedition
November 25 - 29, 2025
Every year, the crystalline waters of Magdalena Bay transform into a natural theater of pure wonder: the Sardine Run. Millions of glittering sardines move in sync, creating silvery swirls that attract an incredible variety of marine life.
Pursued by lightning-fast marlin , agile sea lions and flocks of swooping seabirds, the spectacle reaches its peak with the arrival of the gentle giants: the humpback whales. Here, you can experience a unique dive into the heart of a vibrant and wild ecosystem, a unique experience that blends adventure, beauty and connection with the most pristine nature.
MagBay is waiting for you! Join us and live this extraordinary adventure.

Day 1
Welcome to Baja California
Our journey begins in La Paz , the vibrant capital of Baja California. Here we will welcome the participants and give you our exclusive travel kit, a special memento of the adventure that awaits us. After some briefing and prepping, we will take off towards Puerto San Carlos, a picturesque town that will be the base of our expeditions.
Upon arrival, we will check in to the accommodation that will host us, and then relax with a convivial dinner. The day will end early: it is time to rest and get ready for the beginning of the actual adventure.
Days 2 and 3
Exploring the Bay and Ocean
The days start early, with a 6:00am departure to board our vessel and set off on an adventure.
We will first sail in the calm waters of Magdalena Bay, then we will venture into the Pacific Ocean in search of the extraordinary marine fauna that makes this region unique.
Bait balls, sea lions, dolphins, birds and, with a bit of luck, majestic whales will be the protagonists of our explorations. Each day is different from the other thanks to the changing sea conditions and the surprising variety of possible encounters.
We will return to the base every evening, where a regenerating dinner and a well-deserved rest await us, ready to continue discovering the wonders of this unique ecosystem.

Day 4
sea and land
The fourth day will be a perfect mix of marine and land adventure. In the morning we will board the boat to continue the search for bait balls and their pelagic predators: whales, mobulas, dolphins and other incredible inhabitants of the Pacific.
Next, we will venture into the most hidden places of Magdalena Bay. We will explore the spectacular sand dunes, sail through the suggestive mangroves and, if lucky, spot the mysterious wild coyotes of Magdalena Island.
In the evening, we will gather for a special moment: a toast to celebrate the shared experience, exchange photos and memories and conclude this intense day in a spirit of friendship and gratitude.
Day 5
Return to La Paz
After days of excitement and adventure it is time to go back to La Paz.
In the morning we will leave Puerto San Carlos to return to the capital of Baja California, where we will say goodbye with gratitude for the shared experience.
We will take with us unforgettable memories of encounters with nature, moments of deep connection and friendships born along the way.
